LKN Musical Pathways Initiative

Music belongs to every kid.

Presented by the North Carolina Youth Orchestra, the Musical Pathways Initiative (MPI) is designed to provide access and opportunity for elementary-aged students in our Lake Norman region to learn a musical instrument.

Absent a family’s ability to pay for private lessons, most students in this age group have little to no access or exposure to musical instruments, and almost all local school systems wait until 6th grade to give students the opportunity to participate in a band or orchestra class.

MPI provides students in this underserved group with the opportunity to see and experience some of the area’s most qualified musicians perform and demonstrate the range of orchestral instruments in a fun and engaging assembly environment in their school. Additionally, all students are invited to freely attend an Instrument Discovery Day where they can try all of the instruments under the guidance of those same professionals.

Bring MPI to your school

The Musical Pathways Initiative is currently booking events at local schools. This initiative funds a limited number of assemblies, so if you’d like to have MPI at your school, send us a message. Community members and businesses can also partner with us and sponsor a school assembly for $500.
